The Shard will rise to 310m and 72 occupiable floors. It will surpass the City of Capitals building in Moscow (301 Metres) making it Europe's tallest building. Photo: Bill Green
The Shard has been designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. The tower will sit atop London Bridge Station and will be part of the London Bridge Quarter and London Bridge Place project. Photo: Bill Green
The building will use around 30% less energy than other comparable buildings by using triple-skin glass containing computer-controlled venetian blinds. This will reduce the need for air conditioning.

The Shard will have offices, Shangri-la Hotel, viewing galleries, restaurants and apartments.
The office spaces will have two winter gardens with views towards St Paul’s, the Houses of Parliament, Battersea Power Station, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf.
