Overnight, a number of reports were made of car windows being damaged as a result of marbles being thrown at them. Several house windows were also targeted.

  13. Doncaster Rovers boss laments poor Easter results

    BBC Sport

Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson admits his side are "in a really difficult situation" after losing to two relegation rivals over Easter.

Rovers are now four points adrift of League One safety after Monday's 1-0 defeat by fellow strugglers Blackpool.

Ferguson had called Friday's 4-1 loss at 23rd-placed Colchester "a complete embarrassment".

"It's been the worst possible Easter we could have had," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"It's 15 games without a win now and that's a horrendous record. There've been some really poor performances in that and, even today, when we have been in the ascendancy, we don't get the win."

  15. Decline of UK libraries: The demise of a profession?

    Jenny Cork

    BBC Sheffield, Local Live

Librarians are custodians to a world of information and ideas, performing an important democratic role, their supporters argue.

But with 8,000 jobs in UK libraries disappearing in six years, is that status under threat?

    Inside a library in Yorkshire

Doctor Briony Birdi (pictured), a lecturer in librarianship at the University of Sheffield, says there's been a decline in people studying to become librarians.

"I think there was a fear when all this started that [students] would vote with their feet," she says.

"There has been a reduction in the number of students taking the public library modules, but we are starting to pick up numbers again. The students we have are incredibly committed and they are interested in the societal issues."

    Doctor Briony Birdi

Although student recruitment numbers have gone down slightly in recent years, Doctor Birdi argues they are still a "healthy size" and there is also a strong distance learning programme.
