New Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones: Role will take 'hard work'
Carla George
BBC Local Live, Lincolnshire
Marc Jones says he's very pleased to have been elected as the new Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
The Conservative candidate beat off UKIP's Victoria Ayling in a second-round battle with a total of 48,033 votes.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, he said he was under no illusion the hard work put into the campaign would be anything like the hard work he's going to have to put in to perform to the best of his abilities in the role.
Mr Jones said his biggest challenge would be to fully understand the different aspects of the role.
He said: "There's certain information as a candidate you're not privy to, so it will be a huge learning curve to fully understand what needs to be done.
"With regard to funding, I've already had meetings with the Home Office and the Prime Minister to make sure I get a fair formula for Lincolnshire."
