Election 2016: London Mayor and Assembly candidates

Londoners have three votes in the 5 May election.

  • One for their first and second choice of mayor
  • Another for an assembly member to represent their local constituency
  • A third to choose one of the 11 assembly members who represent the whole city

Assembly candidates - Constituencies

Fourteen seats, which represent the London Assembly's 14 constituencies, are elected using the first-past-the-post system. Essentially, whoever wins most votes is elected.

Eleven seats, which represent the whole city, are elected using proportional representation. Candidates are elected in order based on how many votes their party receives, or as an independent.
