    If you're thinking about heading away from West Yorkshire for an Easter break this weekend, did you know that about 11 million cars are expected to take to the roads today as the holiday getaway begins?

    The AA has estimated about half of all drivers will be on the road as holidaymakers mix with school and commuter traffic.

    Roadworks across 97% of the motorway and A-roads were due to be finished or lifted by 06:00 today, but 57 sets will stay in place for safety reasons.

    Engineering is also expected to affect about 5% of rail routes over the next week.

  6. Police in Calderdale appeal over 'vulnerable' man missing for a month

    Police in Calderdale are appealing for help in tracing a vulnerable 19-year-old man who's been missing for over a month.

    Antony Peter William Hill, who also uses the names Antony Richie and Antoine Richis, was last seen at about 12:30 on Monday 22 February at Todmorden Market.

    Antony's described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of very slim build, with short dark hair, which was partially shaved when he was last seen.

    Det Insp David Shaw says: "We're growing increasingly concerned for his safety and welfare as it is out of character for him to go missing and not to be in contact with anyone."

  7. Families of Ben Nevis couple thank 'brave and generous' rescue teams

    The families of a missing Bradford couple whose bodies have been found on Ben Nevis have thanked "brave and generous" rescue teams in Scotland.

    Rachel Slater, 24, and Tim Newton, 27, disappeared last month and their bodies were found under snow a short distance apart on Wednesday.

    In a statement, the family say of the rescue teams: "These brave and generous men and women have worked incredibly hard to find Rachel and Tim in difficult and dangerous conditions.

    "Although much anticipated, it still comes as a shock. But we're thankful we can now move forward with our lives in the knowledge Rachel and Tim were doing what they loved to do. Climbing was their passion."

  9. Campaigners plan legal action over Boxing Day floods

    Campaigners in a flood-hit area of West Yorkshire are threatening legal action against the Environment Agency following the Boxing Day floods.

    Members of Calder Valley Flood Prevention Action Group say the agency ignored warnings and reports which highlighted the risk the area faced, and have failed in their duty of care.

    Andrew Greenwood is from Emsleys Solicitors in Leeds, and told BBC Radio Leeds costs could run very high.

    BBC Radio Leeds has approached the Environment Agency for a comment and interview but they declined both.

    Two bodies found on Ben Nevis have been confirmed as those of missing Rachel Slater, 24, and Tim Newton, 27, from Bradford.

    Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team believes the experienced climbers were caught in an avalanche before they started a climb on the mountain's North Face.

    The pair disappeared last month and their bodies were found under snow a short distance apart on Wednesday. The discoveries were made in Observatory Gully.

    Ms Slater and Mr Newton were reported missing on 15 February.

    A young woman from Leeds with a life-shortening condition has suffered a setback in her campaign to get a new drug paid for by the NHS. 

    Hannah Lindley has Cystic Fibrosis and watched her sister die from the same condition last year.

    Now the health body NICE has issued draft guidance stating the treatment she wants isn't value for money. I've been finding out more:

  12. Tandem bike and tin bath among dumped river items

    A tandem bike, a tin bath and military ammunition were among the items dumped in canals and rivers last winter.

    They were just some of the more bizarre objects recovered in a four-month survey of rubbish in waterways, carried out by the Canal and River Trust.

    The charity said clearing discarded rubbish from canals and rivers in England and Wales costs it £1m a year.

  13. 'Bored' mobile phone course driver asks for fine and penalty points

    A driver caught by West Yorkshire Police using his mobile phone has asked for penalty points and a fine rather than opt for a "boring" course.

    Note

    The unnamed motorist stated on a caution form he had completed a driver improvement course the day before.

    West Yorkshire Police's road policing team has shared a photo of the form on Twitter with the comment: "Some will never learn".

  14. Ben Nevis bodies discovery: Mountain rescue team offers 'thoughts and condolences'

    More on the news that two bodies, believed to be those of Rachel Slater, 24, and Tim Newton, 27, from Bradford, have been found on Ben Nevis.

    In a message on its Facebook page, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, has paid tribute to all those involved in the searches as well as the couple and their families.

    The team says: "While formal identification has still to take place, we expect them to be confirmed as Rachel and Tim. I am sure that everyone will join us in offering our thoughts and sincere condolences to the families and friends of Rachel and Tim. 

    "They were well known, experienced and respected climbers and their plight has touched so many people over the last few weeks."

  15. Huddersfield Town agree deal for Kaiserslautern defender Lowe

    Huddersfield Town have agreed a deal to sign Kaiserslautern defender Chris Lowe in the summer.

    BBC Radio Leeds understands that the 26-year-old full-back will move to the Terriers when his deal with the German side finishes at the end of the season.

    Lowe has previously worked with Town boss David Wagner when the pair were at Borussia Dortmund.
