  2. Families 'will suffer' from Thame Tesco rejection

    Young families and the elderly will suffer from the decision to reject a Tesco supermarket and petrol station in Thame.

    That's according to the secretary of the campaign group Thame Needs Tesco, Rachel Lester. 

    Councillors voted unanimously against the plans for the Kingsmead Business Park on Howland Road.

  3. BreakingCallum O'Dowda leaves Oxford United in £1m deal

    Callum O'Dowda is leaving Oxford United and joining Championship side Bristol City.

    After the biggest deal in the club's history just last week, when Kemar Roofe was sold, this deal becomes the second biggest for the Us.

    O'Dowda, who made his international debut for the Republic of Ireland just before Euro 2016, becomes a million pound player in the process.

  4. BreakingPolice make arrest after Jericho assualt

    A man has been arrested after an assault in the Jericho area of Oxford, this afternoon. 

    Police were called at about 14:00 to a report that a man was assaulted in Walton Street. 

    He was taken to the John Radcliffe hospital with leg injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

  5. Police hunt for Andrezj Sikorski

    Police have released a photo of a man from Banbury who is wanted on recall to prison. 

    Andrezj Sikorski, 34, a Polish national living in Banbury, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on 9 June 2015 to two years in prison for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

  6. Call for parking restrictions to stop Iffley Fields becoming a 'park and ride'

    An unofficial "park and ride" has developed in Iffley Fields due to the lack of parking restrictions, a campaign group has said.

  7. Bishop's best wishes

    The Acting Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd Colin Fletcher, has been speaking to Radio Oxford to "extend" his congratulations and best wishes to Theresa May as she becomes prime minister.

  8. Drop-in event to keep track on controversial roadworks

    A drop-in event for people to find out how roadworks on and between the Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts in north Oxford has been arranged.

    The long-running project, which has seen traffic delays for more than a year in the area, is due to finish in October.

    The event is on 20 July at the Jury’s Inn, Wolvercote, between 11:00 and 18:00

  9. Honoured PC showed 'great courage'

    Graham Smith, chairman of the Thames Valley Police Federation, has commended PC Garry Dixon for showing "great courage, leadership, tactical and communication skills" that resolved a "very difficult and emotional situation" when he prevented a man setting fire to himself.

    "This incident had the potential for all those concerned to have been seriously injured if not worse," he said.

    A Thames Valley Police spokesman described how PC Dixon, "in fear for his own life and that of his colleagues, tackled the man to the floor before he had chance to set them all alight".

  11. South Oxfordshire Conservatives proud of 'former local schoolgirl' Theresa May

    South Oxfordshire Conservatives have welcomed the appointments of Theresa May and Boris Johnson to their new roles in the government.

    Chairman Judith Nimmo Smith said: "We are very proud that Theresa May, who went to school in our Parliamentary constituency, in Wheatley, has now become prime minister.  

    "We know that with her considerable experience and expertise, she is ideally placed to lead the country through the challenging times ahead in negotiating our exit from the European Union; whilst keeping our United Kingdom together."

    Of Mr Johnson she said she wished the former Henley MP well "as he assumes his the challenging role of foreign secretary".

  12. Undiscovered man 'didn't make friends easily'

    The niece of an elderly man who was found in a flat in Oxford (pictured) seven months after he died says she was shocked when she was contacted by a company telling her what had happened. 

    Thomas Yuill, 82, was discovered last month in Blackbird Leys despite not having paid his rent since November. 

    Valerie Hall says she hadn't seen her uncle for more than 30 years, when she got married in 1973.

  13. Man arrested for PCSO assault

    A man has been charged after pushing a PCSO who was issuing a parking ticket.

    It took place on Broadway in Didcot yesterday at 15:45, with the PCSO receiving minor injuries.

    A 51-year-old from Abingdon has been arrested and charged on suspicion of assault on an accredited person, parking a motor vehicle in a disabled persons bay, and using threatening or abusive words likely to cause harm or distress.

  15. Pupils ‘took ecstasy’ on sports day

    A headteacher has alerted parents after two pupils were excluded for allegedly taking ecstasy in school.

    Dr Annabel Kay, head of The Warriner School, said no concrete evidence has been found to prove the girls had taken the drug but police were brought in after other pupils reported the students for taking ecstasy in the toilets on sports day.
