Councillors voted unanimously against the plans for the Kingsmead Business Park on Howland Road.

Police have released a photo of a man from Banbury who is wanted on recall to prison. 

Andrezj Sikorski, 34, a Polish national living in Banbury, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on 9 June 2015 to two years in prison for possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

An unofficial "park and ride" has developed in Iffley Fields due to the lack of parking restrictions, a campaign group has said.

A drop-in event for people to find out how roadworks on and between the Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts in north Oxford has been arranged.

The long-running project, which has seen traffic delays for more than a year in the area, is due to finish in October.

The event is on 20 July at the Jury’s Inn, Wolvercote, between 11:00 and 18:00

Graham Smith, chairman of the Thames Valley Police Federation, has commended PC Garry Dixon for showing "great courage, leadership, tactical and communication skills" that resolved a "very difficult and emotional situation" when he prevented a man setting fire to himself.

"This incident had the potential for all those concerned to have been seriously injured if not worse," he said.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman described how PC Dixon, "in fear for his own life and that of his colleagues, tackled the man to the floor before he had chance to set them all alight".

South Oxfordshire Conservatives have welcomed the appointments of Theresa May and Boris Johnson to their new roles in the government.

Chairman Judith Nimmo Smith said: "We are very proud that Theresa May, who went to school in our Parliamentary constituency, in Wheatley, has now become prime minister.

A man has been charged after pushing a PCSO who was issuing a parking ticket.

It took place on Broadway in Didcot yesterday at 15:45, with the PCSO receiving minor injuries.

A 51-year-old from Abingdon has been arrested and charged on suspicion of assault on an accredited person, parking a motor vehicle in a disabled persons bay, and using threatening or abusive words likely to cause harm or distress.

A headteacher has alerted parents after two pupils were excluded for allegedly taking ecstasy in school.

Dr Annabel Kay, head of The Warriner School, said no concrete evidence has been found to prove the girls had taken the drug but police were brought in after other pupils reported the students for taking ecstasy in the toilets on sports day.

Wantage MP Ed Vaizey is still waiting to see if he's made the cut and remains part of the new prime minister's ministerial team.
