York City Knights coach James Ford says he plans to refresh his "jaded" side in time for the League One play-off semi-final in a fortnight's time, probably against Rochdale.

Losing by 50 points to 8 at Keighley was not ideal preparation, but Ford has told BBC Radio York the players have every reason to give their all, at least once more.

"You don't get many opportunities to play in a final as a rugby league player. I played for about 15 years and I played in one first team final. These boys have the opportunity to be in a final - they're 80 minutes away," says Ford.

"They've shown over the season they're good enough to be in there. It's up to me and the rest of the coaches to get their energy up and their confidence up and we'll go from there."

It's not every day one of your dreams comes true, but one dream I've had since being a schoolboy has finally been fulfilled.

All this week on BBC Radio York's Afternoon Show we're revelling in the romance of steam with a rail journey along the route of the North Yorkshire Moors railway

And, to my delight, I've had a ride on the footplate of a B1 Class steam engine, travelling from Pickering to Levisham.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway stretches for 18 miles from Pickering through Levisham and Goathland to Grosmont and Whitby. 

It was first built as a horse-drawn tramway in the 1830s by the great Victorian engineer George Stephenson.

It's the largest preserved heritage railway in the UK and operates with the support of over 550 volunteers.

More tributes have been paid to former Scarborough Athletic and Harrogate Town player Daniel Wilkinson, 26, who has died after falling ill during a match.

Daniel collapsed while playing for his current club, Shaw Lane, on Monday and was treated on the pitch before being taken to hospital in Halifax.

There are celebrations in Northallerton after the town's rower, Laurence Whiteley, won gold at the Paralympics in Rio.

After winning the trunk-and-arms mixed double scull with Lauren Rowles, Laurence says he has to "pinch himself to make sure it's all real".

This impressive window display in Barkers Department store, which had wished Laurence "good luck", has been changed to congratulate him on his success.

From today there could soon be a new feel to the money in your purse or wallet, with the Bank of England releasing the new plastic £5 note.

The bank's printed 440 million new notes made of polymer, which they say means they'll be cleaner, stronger and harder to counterfeit.  

I've had my hands on one of the new notes and you can crunch them up, leave them in your trousers and put them through the wash and they come out the same as they went in!

Andy Woods, head of coins and medals at the Yorkshire Museum, told me he thinks the new notes look "striking".

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning of torrential rain and possible flash floods for our region, external this afternoon and this evening.

Outbreaks of showery rain may turn torrential and thundery across parts of northern England, including North Yorkshire, and there's a risk of "large hail, frequent lightning and strong winds", according to the Met Office.

They also warn this could cause "flash flooding and disruption to travel".

An e-fit image of a man police want to speak to about a suspected sexually motivated incident involving a 12-year-old girl in Knaresborough has been issued by police, external.

The incident happened between 08:00 and 08:20 on Friday 9 September when the girl was approached by a man on Charlton Manor Drive as she walked to school. He lifted her rucksack off her back, causing the girl to challenge the man who then walked off.

There was no direct contact between the man and the girl, but police believe the incident may have been sexually motivated.

The man is described as aged in his 40s or 50s, well-built, with dark hair, bald on top

PC Simon Davis says: "This is a concerning incident, and although the girl was not injured, she was understandably upset."

"Delumptious" celebrations are taking place across the world to mark the 100th anniversary of author Roald Dahl's birth. 

At Appleton Roebuck Primary they're having a party and, following in the tradition of Roald Dahl, Gez Walsh, a talented "squibbler" himself, is also there performing some poems.

Good wishes have been pouring in to BBC Radio York after one of York’s best-loved actors was badly hurt in an accident.

Martin Barrass - best known to York Theatre Royal audiences as one of the stars of its famous annual pantomime - is in intensive care following a motorcycle crash. 

Dozens of people have taken to BBC Radio York's Facebook page to post their best wishes for a speedy recovery.  

Martin was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary after the accident, which happened near Skipton at about 15:00 on Saturday.  

He's had an operation to stop internal bleeding around his liver. He has a collapsed lung and remains in an induced coma in intensive care.

Harrogate Town players will observe a one minute silence ahead of tonight's game against Stalybridge as a tribute to former Town player Daniel Wilkinson, who has died after falling ill during a match.

Daniel, 26, who had also played for Scarborough Athletic, collapsed while playing for his current club, Shaw Lane, on Monday.

He was treated on the pitch before being taken to hospital in Halifax.

Decision makers in York are discussing proposed new rules for licensing sex establishments in the city, external. 

They say it's all about "making things clearer" - and the proposals will go out to consultation if approved.

The policy has been drafted after a year of research conducted by police and the council. 

They want clearer guidelines for licence holders for things like opening times and for sexual entertainment venues, specifically the protection of dancers. 

The council currently licenses one sex shop and two sexual entertainment venues in the city.

The chief executive of York Theatre Royal, Liz Wilson, has paid tribute to Martin Barrass, the York actor seriously injured in a motorbike crash at the weekend.

The panto star and BBC Radio York presenter was on his way back from the Lake District on his motorbike when he was injured in an accident near Skipton.  

Speaking on BBC Radio York this morning, Liz Wilson, who has worked with Martin for many years, said he is "loved by everyone".

Plans to cut the number of constituencies across North, South and West Yorkshire from 44 to 41 are published as part of draft changes to Parliamentary boundaries for England and Wales.

Labour - expected to be hit hardest - said the proposals, by the Boundary Commission, were "undemocratic". But the government said they would "ensure an equal say for each voter". 

The number of MPs would be cut from 533 to 501 in England, from 40 to 29 in Wales, from 59 to 53 in Scotland and from 18 to 17 in Northern Ireland.

With four exceptions, every seat in the UK will have no fewer than 71,031 and no more than 78,507 electors.
