  2. York chip shop 'batter' than the rest

    Andrew Barton

    BBC Local Live, York

A fish and chip shop in York is "batter" than the rest and has no need to "fish" for compliments, it seems...

    Andrew Barton

The BBC's Danny savage has been looking into it and seems to have discovered Pat was not loved by everyone.

  5. Listen: Hunger strike councillor will continue 'until something is done'

    BBC Radio York

A councillor who's protesting over a case of alleged poor care at a North Yorkshire residential home says he will continue with his hunger strike for as long as it takes.

Liberal councillor John Clark spent the night camping on the steps of County Hall in Northallerton to highlight the case involving a resident.

In a statement, North Yorkshire County Council says it takes all safeguarding issues involving vulnerable people "extremely seriously" and is carrying out investigations.

The home involved has voluntary suspended admitting new residents while investigations are carried out, the council adds.

Councillor Clark has told BBC Radio York he's going to continue with his protest until something is done:

  6. North Yorkshire's weather: A generally dry and fine afternoon

    Kay Crewdson

    Weather presenter, BBC Look North

A mostly dry and fine afternoon for Yorkshire with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells.

However, a little more in the way of cloud over the Pennines for a time early afternoon with the risk of an iosolated shower.

Otherwise dry and feeling warm inland in shelter of the freshening easterly wind with highs of 17C (63F), cooler along the coast.

  20. Filey lifeboat crew get two bravery awards for girl's cliff rescue

    Joanita Musisi

    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Members of Filey's lifeboat crew have been given two bravery awards after rescuing a teenager near Filey Brigg last April.

The RNLI praised their "efforts and excellent teamwork" and awarded the crew two "Framed Letters of Thanks" in recognition of their efforts.

    Filey lifeboat

The girl they rescued, who was from York, had fallen down some cliffs in the early hours of the morning and had injuries to her head and legs.

She was also suffering from severe cold and had been there for over five hours.

The crews had to tackle rough seas in the darkness to get her to safety, and during the rescue waves broke over the lifeboat filling it with water.

Quote Message: It is quite unusual for two Framed Letters of Thanks to be awarded for the same service, but such were the conditions that night special mention has to go to all the crew on both boats." from John Ward Filey Lifeboat
