  3. Weather latest: Freezing conditions forecast overnight

    Temperatures are expected to dip to -3C in parts of Berkshire overnight. 

    Widespread sharp frost is forecast as well as freezing fog patches. 

    Conditions are expected to remain clear, dry and very cold tomorrow.

  4. Henley Festival wins national award

    Henley Festival has won the Headline Performance of the Year award at the UK Festival Awards for Elton John's opening night in July. 

    It was the first time the event had been shortlisted. 

    Stewart Collins, the festival's artistic director, told the BBC: "To get this national recognition is quite fantastic."

  5. Lilly-May Page inquest: Paramedic training 'inadequate'

    A paramedic who treated a five-year-old girl who died after collapsing at school said the training she received was "inadequate", an inquest has heard.

    Lilly-May Page died after collapsing from an undiagnosed heart condition near Willow Bank School in Woodley, Berkshire, in 2014.

    Paramedic Shannon Jacobs said Lilly-May's heart was in fine ventricular fibrillation, where the heart quivers.

    On that basis, Ms Jacobs decided not to shock her with the defibrillator.

  6. Streatley crossroads reopens

    A road in Streatley which had been closed since last Thursday has reopened this afternoon. 

    The A329 Streatley crossroads and B4009 Streatley Hill were shut after a a lorry became wedged between a house and the Bull pub when the driver attempted to make a tight turn.  

    A chimney stack was damaged in the collision and West Berkshire Council said the structure had to be removed "brick by brick" to make it safe.

  7. Emergency night shelter opens as freezing conditions forecast

    Slough's emergency night shelter for homeless people has opened following a forecast of very cold weather. 

    It is staying open until Thursday morning. 

    The council opens a night shelter when the temperature is expected to fall below freezing for three consecutive nights.

  9. Stam: 'We defended very well'

    Reading are back in training today with their focus on this Saturday's trip to Fulham. 

    Last weekend's victory against Bristol City keeps Jaap Stam's men in third place. BBC Radio Berkshire's Sport Editor Tim Dellor spoke to the Royals' boss after the match.

  10. Lilly-May Page inquest: 'Paramedic would have done things differently'

    A paramedic would have done things differently in hindsight, the inquest into the death of a five-year-old Wokingham school-girl has heard.

    Lilly-May Page collapsed at Willowbank School in May 2014 - she had an undiagnosed heart condition.

  12. BreakingMan arrested following fatal Wallingford collision

    An 18-year-old man from Wallingford has been arrested after a man was killed following a collision just after midnight involving a lorry, a motorcycle and a car.

    The 27-year-old motorcyclist from Reading died at the scene on the A4074 near Wallingford. His next of kin have been informed. 

    A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and driving whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit, and is currently in custody.

    University of Reading scientists have contributed to a United Nations survey calling for urgent action to be taken to stop the global decline of pollinating insects.

    It's reported 1.4 billion jobs depend on their survival around the world.

  15. Survey finds 60% of businesses believe Reading 'lacks a clear identity'

    A survey of businesses in Reading found 60% believe the town "lacks a clear identity". 

    The questionnaire undertaken by Reading UK CIC was undertaken to mark the end of the town's year of culture. 

    It looked at the role arts, culture and heritage play in shaping people's perceptions of a location. 

    The survey also found 85% of respondents believed businesses and the arts should work more closely together for the benefit of the economy. 

    Adam Jacobs, chairman of Reading UK CIC, told the BBC: "We spoke to over 50 businesses – 70% of those people who were surveyed said a strong location identity was important for relocation decisions and recruiting."

  16. Streatley crossroads 'will reopen by 4pm' after delays

    The main road crossing the Thames through Streatley remains closed today. 

    West Berkshire Council initially said the A329 Streatley crossroads and B4009 Streatley Hill would reopen yesterday at 16:00 after a damaged chimney stack was made safe. 

    However, a council spokesman said the work had been delayed and will now reopen by 16:00. 

    It was shut on Thursday after a lorry became wedged between a house and the Bull pub when the driver attempted to make a tight turn.

  17. Father campaigns for daughter's access to Cystic Fibrosis drug

    Kevin Cramner has sent BBC Berkshire this picture of his 12-year-old daughter Holly, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. 

    The NHS does not currently fund a drug, called Orkambi, which could slow the progression of her illness.

    It costs more than £100,000 a year for each patient.

    He says being given access to the new drug would reduce her reliance on antibiotics. 

    "At the moment she's on oral antibiotics, inhaled antibiotics, enzyme tablets, physiotherapy for her lungs twice a day for 20 min and athletics 5-6 days a week and this is a good period yet her lung function is still at 79%. 

    "At her age it should be in the high 90s.

    "At one point she was on about 30 tablets a day."
