  1. Until tomorrow...

That's all we've got time for today, but scroll down for highlights of the MTV VMAs (including Kanye's speech and Drake and Rihanna randomness) and the best bits of Reading and Leeds, plus news of a Tulisa comeback, a Dizzee Rascal announcement and the return of The Divine Comedy.

We'll leave you with a little treat to see you through - James Corden's comedy take on Kanye's new video Fade.

Kanye only debuted the Flashdance inspired promo at the MTV VMAs but Corden was quick off the mark. Luckily he's cut out most of the rude stuff out but there is a small amount of partial nudity at the end so please be warned if you don't like that kind of thing...

    BBC Radio 1

    Matty Healy

Fresh from wowing Reading and Leeds at the weekend (which you can watch here) The 1975's frontman Matty Healy joined Grimmy to co-host the Radio 1 breakfast show this morning.

They got through quite a few topics during the course of the show from Skepta - "I love grime and I love what's happening to Skepta" - to Biffy Clyro (who he has a lot of time for), and even whether he wears deodorant.

Handily Radio 1 has rounded up 25 of the most important things learned this morning, and you can listen back to the full show, which also featured Matty getting his hands on one of Tom Daley's Olympic medals.

  3. Vanilla Ice heads to the ballroom

    Vanilla Ice

Vanilla Ice is going to be showing off his ballroom skills - it's just been announced he's joining the line-up for the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars.

The rapper and DIY TV show host is joining R&B star Babyface, country singer Jana Kramer and Kanye West's ex Amber Rose on the line-up.

He's nothing to do with music but just for info Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is also on the list, after making headlines when he claimed he'd been robbed at gunpoint in Rio, which turned out to be an "over exaggeration".

The US version of Strictly starts on 12 September. Please please please can the Ice Ice Baby rap get worked in somewhere...

  4. Tulisa says comeback single 'not a cover'

    Tulisa video still

They include Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio and BBC Sound of 2016 winner Jack Garrett and are on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and SoundCloud now.

Mumford member Winston Marsall is a fan of the lot, but says "pop-star-by-day-superhero-by-night" Garratt has managed to turn Wona into "a hit-smash-fest. Saving the day once again.”

  6. Mel C pens essay about why she won't join Spice Girls reunion

    Mel C

Mel C aka Sporty Spice has put paid to any talk of her joining a Spice Girls reunion.

She's penned an essay for Love magazine as she prepares to release a new album of her own material after five years away.

She admits that after several face-to-face meetings with the rest of the band earlier this year she "made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri and Melanie".

Victoria Beckham had already bowed out and Mel C says it was hard to let the fans down.

"Unfortunately something didn’t feel quite right and I had to follow my gut."

Quote Message: Look, I will be a Spice Girl until I die. But the continuous speculation on whether we will reform to celebrate 20 years of Wannabe has been particularly exhausting. Don’t get me wrong - I totally get it. But is it a new rule that bands have to reform? Why can’t we just be remembered for our incredible achievements in the nineties.

She says she felt the band peaked with their performance at the 2012 Olympics...

Quote Message: For me the absolute pinnacle of my Spice existence was being watched by a billion people around the globe belting out Spice up Your Life on top of a black cab at the 2012 London Olympics. Anything less than the full line-up just didn’t feel like we’d be doing justice to the band or the fans.

She also talks about her changing attitude to fame and celebrity and looks very sporty in her pictures.

  7. What's your favourite Carpenters song?

    The Carpenters perform in 1971

Does We've Only Just Begun have you reaching for the hankies? Or is the more cheerful Top of the World your Carpenters earworm? This Saturday ITV will be trying to determine The Nation's Favourite Carpenters Song in a 90 minute documentary.

Richard Carpenter will take to the piano to celebrate his hits with late sibling Karen as the biggest-selling sister and brother act in music history. She died in 1983 at the age of just 32.

“Karen had a really rare gift. She sang beyond her years," says Richard in the show.

"Listen to her singing Rainy Days and Mondays… She was only 20 years old."

Richard Carpenter in The Nation's Favourite Carpenters song

Celeb fans taking part include friend Petula Clarke, Mylene Klass and X Factor's Nicole Sherzinger, who said of Karen:

"She is like the songbird of sadness. Her voice is so soothing and comforting. It’s literally what you want to have in your house playing on rainy days and Mondays.”

The show airs this Saturday, 3 September at 21:45 on ITV.

  8. Dizzee Rascal to play London Boy in Da Corner show

    Dizzee Rascal

It's just been announced Dizzee Rascal will perform his 2003 debut album Boy In Da Corner live in its entirety for the first time in the UK next month.

He'll play the genre-defining record in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy at a secret London location on Friday 21 October. Tickets go on sale later this week.

Featuring tracks like I Luv U, Dizzee performed the album for another Red Bull show in Brooklyn, New York in May.

At the time Dizzee spoke about how he'd had to relearn the classic grime rhymes for the gig, and recalled making the album at the age of just 16.

"I probably had the most fun making Boy In Da Corner," he told Pigeons and Planes.

"Just imagine being a 17-year-old thrown in the studio and being in there for as long as you wanted. I was literally in the studio all night. I’d wake up at six in the morning and then go home and come back later on."

  9. The Divine Comedy are back

    Neil Hannon

The Divine Comedy are back after a six-year break with their 11th album Foreverland.

Neil Hannon has given a lovely interview to the BBC where he explains why he's written songs about Napoleon and Catherine the Great as well as discussing parenthood, history books and his inability to resist earworms.

Our favourite anecdote is about one of the songs which was recorded as a voice memo on his phone with strings added afterwards.

"There's bit at the end where I just stop and go "blah, blah, blah", and that's simply because I had no more words written. Nowhere else to go!" he admits in the interview.

Actor and musician Matt Berry is one of the fans excited about their return...

  15. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj debut new video

Ariana Grande performing at the MTV VMAs 2016

Anyone who's ever tried spinning will have maximum respect for Ariana Grande's commitment to singing live during her performance with Nicki Minaj at the MTV VMAs, whilst also performing an energetic routine on an exercise bike (in heels of course)...

But she looks much more relaxed in the new video for their latest collaboration, Side To Side, which has been posted online this morning.

We can't post it here because of the language but you can see it here - also be warned there is lots of semi-clad booty-shaking.

The pair performed the PG rated version of the song at the VMAs which you can watch below.

    John Lennon

John Lennon's killer Mark Chapman has been denied parole again.

Chapman, who is now 61, shot the former Beatles star in New York in 1980.

He told the parole board he now accepted his crime was "premeditated, selfish and evil".

But they ruled his release would "be incompatible with the welfare of society".

He went in for a kiss but the singer turned her cheek, leading to lots of amusement online...

And it wouldn't be an MTV awards do without Kanye West doing one of his classic rambling speeches ahead of introducing the video for his new track Fade.
